(More customer reviews)Weight: At 4.2 pounds I wouldn't call it light as air but it is very portable and I have no problems carrying in hand. If it's in a backpack I hardly even notice it there. My books are heavier and more cumbersome. The slim design definitely helps in making it that much more portable also. If you want something that so light it wows you every time look for a laptop weighing 3.5 pounds or less. Again, I have no problems carrying this laptop around with me all day. I weight 135 lbs as a reference point.
Battery: This is really where it shines. You really do get a little more than 8 hours if everything is turned down. But since I don't work for 8 hours straight on a laptop I turn up the brightness, stream video, browse websites, use Word, listen to music and still get an amazing 6 hours plus. The AC adapter is small and light weight if you need to carry it around.
Design: The lid is made of aluminum and unfortunately is a finger print magnet (maybe I just have oily fingers). The notebook is in a very conservative gray. It won't turn any heads but that's perfect for me in a meeting or in class. The keyboard is flat surfaced but feels great, took almost no time to get used to it. Overall the notebook feels very sturdy with a little bit of flexing if I press hard on the side of the keyboards. Hinges have a good feel to them.
Performance: It won't play 3D games nor can you do intensive video editing but it's more than fast enough to do your basic tasks. Basic meaning email, web browsing, music, occasional DVD, using Microsoft Office 2007. I can have Office, Firefox with multiple tabs and music running with no slow downs at all. This is probably 80% of consumers anyway. It also loads and runs Photoshop just fine. However it will not run YoutubeHD since it is flash based and depends solely on the processor. DIVX and videos codecs that can offload to the GPU work just fine. I was able to watch videos in 720p just fine.
Important notice: You MUST MUST update the video driver, LAN driver, and Bios to get it to function correctly. The initial drivers caused the machine to run very slow and crash often. After the update it runs perfectly. If I could take a half star I would. I ended giving it five stars because it comes with a free upgrade to Windows 7, which makes this machine last even longer, run even faster, and would not have had the initial driver problems. Can't wait for the retail release!

(More customer reviews)I looked forward to excellent performance from these devices as an alternative to running additional cable in my home, based on the generally good reviews on this site. The devices seemed to work well, right out of the box, for distances of two rooms away. However, they would lose connection whenever the computer was turned off and then turned back on later. The only way to restore ethernet input to my computer was to unplug and plug in again the nearest XE102. This is not the unsatisfactory reliability my wife and I desire from our internet connection. Even when the two adaptors were plugged into AC receptacles in the same room (as a best-case test), they would not continue to provide ethernet input to my computer if it was turned off and then on again later. My attempt at telephone support from Netgear was fruitless ("call back later"). When I used their online service center, I initially received a general list of possible problems back, but nothing that addressed this specific problem. When I asked for more specific help, after five days I finally received a response which said the problem I reported was "a limitation of the devices." In other words, this was the best performance I could expect.

The Prestige 324 is a full SPI firewall with a 4-port switch that provides virtually everything that their ZyWALL product line does, only without the VPN circuitry. As a result, it is perfectly suited to most home users that want industrial-strength security for their always-on DSL or cable connections. It supports X-Box, Instant Messenger, UPnP, and virtually every Internet game out there. If you want to, it also provides all the settings that you will need to set up servers, web sites, etc.
The firmware that controls the product is taken directly from their enterprise level products. Because of this, it is subjected to a level of testing and evaluation by networking professionals that no consumer product would ever get. As such, the product has evolved to be virtually "bullet-proof".
I've used, tested and discarded every competitive product that I could find while searching for one that actually did what the marketing people said it would, but there was always some fatal flaw. The search ended when I met with some networking professionals. They unanimously suggested that I leave the department store brands and get into a professional product, especially since it was actually less expensive than most of the consumer-quality products. Finally, it looks great too -- it's not just an old tin box that is better suited to a laboratory than a home. All-in-all, this is a winner!
Amazon.com seems to carry the product on an inconsistant basis, but when it's available, their price is generally the best around, if you get the free shipping. I have a few friends and relatives waiting for it to come back into stock so that they can order one for themselves.

(More customer reviews)Bit torrent is great for sharing stuff. But it consumes too much electricity if your powerful desktop machine just runs the whole day for downloading stuff. So I am looking for something more energy efficient.
I was attracted to the ezdownloader from another maker. But it price tag was a little high and I guess there must be a competitor out there with a better price/feature ratio. So I researched the US Market and then the TW and HK market. There are definitely similar products with much cheaper price. Finally I came to this one - the Sapido 3G N+ Wireless Audio/Video Router.
What this is:
- A wireless router - that serve as any other router out there, you may just hook it up to a DSL/cable modem to get wifi at your home/office.
- A NAT server - you may attach a USB drive to it and access the drive as as SAMBA network drive. The drive can be format to NTFS. I believe the limit is 1.5TB. I am using only a 250GB so it is good enough for me.
- Webcam server - I haven't tested this feature yet. As the spec indicates, you should be able to plug in a webcam and access it from a webpage. It sounds fun, isn't it?
- Finally, the most important factor - A BT downloader. You access this router via a webpage interface, upload the .torrent file, and it will download the contents for you! It allows a list of 20 torrents, with 2 active download running. Unlike the ezdownloader, where you must use the vendor's website to control the download, this router will be access from the LAN only. Depends on how your LAN gateway is set up, you can assign this router as your Web server at your current IP. If you do that, then you may access the router from outside (anywhere over the world).
The set up was not straight forward for non-geeky users. But just be patient and you should be done in 30 minutes. There is no manual provided - only a big folded piece of the instruction paper with diagrams. Since my broadband gateway is already wireless, I use this a wireless Access Point. Yes, you can use this a wireless "client" to your existing wireless network. Then itself can be used as a wired + wireless access point. There are four ethernet ports available to use. I hook my PS3 and XBOX to it and it works great!
The samba network drive can be detected by the PS3 automatically. I am able to watch the movies directly from the PS3 without doing anything extra.
The Pros:
- A lot of feature to play with.
- Wireless AP (the 3G network feature is not tested, but could be a big plus to someone)
- Support BT
- Support Samba
- Upgradable firmware
- Web access from outsideThe Cons:
- BT page not compatible completely with all web-browsers. It likes Firefox and IE more.
- Can't handle Asian character sets - all characters of the downloading file name will be converted to hex byte representation of the character. It makes reading back of the file name difficult sometimes. Not a problem if the file was created before hand and copied to the USB drive.
- The saved path sometimes can not be handled by Windows explorer, if you plug the USB drive to your PC. However, you may use a ftp client to ftp to the router and access the drive to rename the files before moving back to Windows.
=> It definitely can do some improvement on the file system.
Conclusion: overall this product is great product of integrated features. However, I did spend some effort finding it. I think the sales department from Sapido should promote it a little better so a bigger consumer crowd can see its availability.
