(More customer reviews)Finding an external modem that runs off a serial port is hard to do these days. This modem, made by the company who now owns the Hayes name, works well using the Hayes AT command set many older computer users are familiar with. A quick modification of old Hayes ACCURA 24k modem settings on my computer to handle up to 56k was the only modification needed to make full use of this modem. The combination of a having a serial port and the Hayes command set should make this modem very useful for those still using Apple //-series era hardware, and those with older UNIX workstations or MS Windows desk side computers.
The power plug on the back is the same as that of some cell phones, so I was able to go to an electronics store in the US and purchase a transformer for it there. Now I have two transformers, one which works in parts of Europe (and is what the vendor shipped me with the modem), and one which works in the US.
