Channel Vision Coaxial Tap Splitter - 6DB Line Tap - 2 Way Review

Channel Vision Coaxial Tap Splitter - 6DB Line Tap - 2 Way
Average Reviews:

I bought this tap to replace a 9dB PDI "Mega Tap".
Unfortunately with this splitter installed the SNR on my cable modem, installed on the -6dB leg, swings wildly by at least 4dB (38 to 34). Before with the PDI tap the SNR was very stable and higher (38.8 to 39). A back and forth comparison today confirmed these results.
I think the advertised attenuation values are pretty close. I was at about 8dBmV with the -6 tap and now 5dBmV back on the PDI tap.

I can tell you all you need to know about this router in one sentence: Do not buy it or you will regret it. Don't say I didn't warn you.
This router feels fragile and flimsy, and it is. I bought it in May and it worked fine until August, when I moved it to a different room and plugged it into a new outlet. Then it stopped working. I have had SMC routers in the past, and this has happened to me before: the router works fine for a while, but it cannot withstand any kind of handling, no matter how gentle.
Worse yet, when I called SMC technical support to get an RMA number so I could return the router for a new one, they insisted that I spend over an hour trying one thing after another to make it work. Sorry, but it is simply not worth over an hour of my time to try to repair a $49 router, especially when I know from experience that it cannot be repaired and I need a replacement. Eventually, I asked to speak to a supervisor, and was put on infinite hold.
In the end, I did what I should have done from the very beginning: toss the SMC in the trash and buy a Linksys router. (Netgear routers work well, too.) The Linksys feels far more solid, and I expect it will be more durable and reliable as well. I have never heard anyone say anything positive about SMC routers; trust me, you won't be the first!

300Mbps 802.11n MIMO Wireless LAN CardBus PCMCIA Adapter Review

I was a little bit cautious before buying this product since one reviewer said it had no working drivers for SP3. That was not the case. My card came with a driver CD with an installation executable that installed signed drivers for my SP3 system, not bad as far as online purchases go. The product doesn't disconnect and has typical wireless range.
If you buy/bought this and need drivers just shoot me a message and I'll send you the files.

ZyXEL P330W 802.11g Wireless Router Review

ZyXEL P330W 802.11g Wireless Router
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is one of the few devices I've found that can be a bridge (a wireless Ethernet device), an AP/Router, or a WISP router. And for the money, this is a great buy.
I had a problem making WPA work in client/bridge mode, but I found a workaround that I'll share:
There is a bug in the P-330W Wireless / Security screen. The WPA/WPA2 TKIP Passphrase field is not storing the passphrase correctly.
I can reproduce this 100% of the time.
WORKAROUND:
Avoid the Wireless / Security settings entirely
1. Click on P-330W Setup Wizard
2. at WAN Interface Setup, click Next
3. at Wireless Basic Settings, set the SSID for the AP of which you want this bridge to be a client, click Next
4. at Wireless Security Setup, choose the WPA(TKIP) method (I did not try the other two WPA methods, but this probably applies to any WPA method with a passphrase).
5. Click Finish
6. Click Wireless / Basic Settings
7. Set Mode to Client, click Save
With this issue resolved, I'm enjoying this device very much.

Cisco-Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router with SRX200 (WRT54GX2) Review

Average Reviews:

I have had pretty good success with Linksys products in the past and I would consider myself an above average user. So when I read some negative feedback about this product I figured it was just some user configuration issues. Was I wrong!!!
It wireless fuction worked off and on for a couple of weeks before I exchanged the model at the store. The second model had the same problem. During my 2 months of dealing with this nightmare I must have spent 30 to 40 hours on the phone with tech support. The first time I was on hold for over 3 hours. I had to reexplain the issues to tech support each time (you would think they could just read the case notes!!). EVERY time they asked if I was using a Linksys adapter card or if I was running WPA security. Each time I politely explanined that I did not have a Linksys card and that I would like to run WPA because the box, literature and website all said the device was backwards compatible with any b/g device and that it supported WPA. I finally gave up and turned off all security features and I still had the same problem.

Do not buy this router!! The frustration that is involved if it does not work with an internal Intel wireless card is unbelievable. And the tech support is all done from India, which is fine, but there is a real language barrier sometimes.

I was surprised to find this here, as I sort of thought it was proprietary from Earthlink. It seems a fairly good quality product in terms of manufacture with a nice design for its firmware. However, it seems to go out, and not be able to come online again for few months!

Socket Communications Serial I/O CF Card with 16550 UART Review

Socket Communications Serial I/O CF Card with 16550 UART
Average Reviews:

Socket Communications keeps bringing the handheld market some of the lowest power consuming PCMCIA and CF devices around, and the Serial I/O CF card is no exception! I use it primarily on my HP 200LX palmtop when I need an extra serial port for a mouse, and it has almost no noticeable affects on my battery life! My friend borrows it to connect his HPC (which doesn't have serial ports) to his cell phone whenever I'm around. He should buy his own already! And of course, it's small enough to keep tucked away in your carry bag unnoticed just in case of an emergency.

I ordered this phone and was disappointed at the EXTREMELY complex setup process. It seemed defective. Replacement of the batteries would require another setup unless the receiver was removed from the hook first.
I would have loved the features but I decided that I could not keep it.

Cisco-Linksys HPN200SK HomeLink Phoneline 10M Network-in-the-Box Review

Cisco-Linksys HPN200SK HomeLink Phoneline 10M Network-in-the-Box
Average Reviews:

This product is EXCELLENT!! A quick and easy way to create a home (or small office) network without extra cabling or hassle. After quickly installing the PCI cards into the PC's I was up and running on my home network - about 10 minutes total. No need for special network configuration, IP mapping, or anything else.
The connection has proven to be a blessing. Days after installing the cards I had a problem on one of my machines and need to resintall the OS.I had several gigabytes of data that I wanted to keep (lots of scanned images) and didnt want to use zip disk.I copied the data over the LAN and voila! The performance was outstanding. Unfortunately I didnt measure the actual speed I attained, but the 10mb speed is definitely enough for most home uses.
THE NEGATIVE: the LanBridge software isnt the best. Its okay but I prefer the WinGate product which I use to share my internet connection between my machine. LanBridge required a bit more network tinkering.

Bought as a replacement for original that got lost. I separate adapter tip on this, gives you the ability to replace just the USB portion of the cable if it should get damaged. Have not used to download yet, but plays through car stereo just fine and charges. Wish the coiled cable were a bit longer, just and inch or so to reach the center console in the front seat of my vehicle a bit easier. Would not recommend allowing it to just hang, as this will damage the cable over time.

This screen for the Dell Latitude E6400 has great colors, and works well for business and personal use
This monitor displays great colors for the Latitude E6400; they're clear, sharp, and almost real looking. After looking at many colorful pictures, I was very impressed by the contrast. The resolution seems about right for the size of the monitor. It satisfies my work and personal expectations.
One thing that bothers me about the monitor is that when under bright lights or the sun, it becomes harder to see, especially with the brightness down. The response times can also lag a little bit, but nothing to sever.
Overall, this display is great for all situations other than in bright places.

Toshiba Satellite Notebook Computer A135-S4527 Review

Toshiba Satellite Notebook Computer A135-S4527
Average Reviews:

I got this computer to replace my PC and I'm glad I chose this particular one.
This notebook comes with Windows Vista Home Premium. I wasn't too sure about having Vista, but after using it I do like it. I use this notebook at home and the PC I use at work has XP. I like Vista better than XP. The biggest problem I had with Vista is that I could no longer use my very old inkjet printer. I checked the printer manufacturer's website for a Vista driver and it was not providing a driver for that printer. I can print from Vista with my somewhat newer laser printer. I would suggest that before buying any computer with Vista, it would be wise to be sure your printer will run with Vista.
The speed of this notebook is excellent. My husband decided to double the RAM and it is now beyond excellent.
This computer is great. I need to explore more of it to find out everything it can do, but it has more than met my needs so far. I would highly recommend this computer.
In response to another review, I have not had ANY of the problems mentioned. In fact, when we replaced computers at work a few months ago, I insisted on a Toshiba notebook for me (however it wasn't this particular model). I do not hesitate to recommend Toshiba.
