(More customer reviews)I've replaced my Linksys BEFW11S4 router with Netgear MR814, and I have not been disappointed. MR814 has a better range, better user interface, and several features missing from the Linksys model.
Setup was very easy - Netgear setup wizard even recognized the type of the broadband connection I have (PPPoE-based DSL). The manual includes a handy table with settings for many US ISPs. Wireless LAN was also up and running in no time.
I have no complains about the router operation so far. It's does not drop my PPPoE connection, and is generally *not noticeable* - just like a router should be.
Features that make this router stand out in the crowded field of wireless routers: 24x7 tech support and 3yr. warranty, parental controls plus free Zero Knowledge Freedom Personal Firewall software (one-year license for up to 8 computers), and ability to update your dynamic ip address in DynDNS.org database automatically (very handy if you need to connect to your home computer).
The only downside I can think of is the size. The unit is larger than many comparable routers, although it is not as tall as others, and can be positioned vertically with the included stand, or mounted on the wall.

Lenovo ThinkPad Advanced Mini-Dock Port Replicator (250410U) Review

(More customer reviews)This Thinkpad Dock, built for the IBM Thinkpad T60, works very well - it is an excellent port replicator, short of the full-sized advanced dock by only 1 USB port and the expansion bays. The design is also a lot more attractive than that of the T-43 Port Replicator. There is an "undocking" system, but I usually, just eject the Thinkpad, without any ill effects to either the dock or my laptop. (The ejection process is annoying because my external hard drive sometimes does not stop immediately). My own wishes for this product are: 1) It included FireWire ports, and 2) It was cheaper. Just like all proprietary products, it sells for a lot more than it's worth.

Usr Call Director Review

(More customer reviews)After a frustrating experience with my Comcast router - problems for 2 years at least - I gave in and purchased the Call Director. And I love it. It actually works. I can still see Caller ID. It doesn't get interrupted when a fax is in progress and I pick up to answer a call; it effectively routs, in other words, and it WORKS. The design is slim and fits in a tight space. Worth what I paid; I wish I hadn't waited so long.

(More customer reviews)I bought this to use with a apple. Of course the software supplied is for pc.Plugged it in and the gateway/modem went to work without me doing anything. Great, and quick too.After about a week the modem would lock up so I would reboot.This would last for about fifteen minutes and then lock up again. I had to reset the modem back to factory status even though all I did was add a key to the wireless network. It seems to work better but still locks from time to time. Not anywhere the performance right out of the box.
I emailed zyxel about the problem and Nathan at zxyel tried to help me out but in the end told me to return it because there is not a firmware update that might solve the problem. The modem is a Zyxel P-660HW-D1-v2.It seems to be a big mystery which modem to use with the apple since now I want to just buy a modem and plug it in to an apple airport extreme and be done with the problems. The first modem I bought was a NETGEAR that quit within 1 day.

(More customer reviews)This digital photo frame was purchased after reading a review from Consumer Report. The frame allows you to scan old images and store them on a memory card or to the frame. Some older images are hard to feed thru the scanner and you are limited to 4 x 6 prints. If you intend to leave the frame on for extended periods of time you will be disappointed in the quality of your pictures the longer the frame is left on. If you leave it on long enough for a short visit from family and friends to look at you will be pleased at their reactions to seeing old photos that may have not been seen for years!

Hawking HWREG1 Wireless G Range Extender Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this Hawking HWREG1 repeater after a miserable experience with the Linksys repeater. The Hawking unit works perfectly and was very easy to configure. It truly was a 10 minute deal from start to finish. It is extending my Linksys WRT54G wireless network using WPA encryption. You assign the Hawking unit a second SSID (I called mine EXTEND) and then your computer will connect to what it "thinks" is a second wireless network, but everything continues to operate as if you are still on the same network.
I placed this unit on a table that is about half way between the original router and the room with low signal. It is small, and you can easily locate it in an out of the way area. When I use my laptop in the far corner of my house, the original linksys network is still visible as it always was, with a very low signal level. But the EXTEND network has a strong signal, and I just connect to it.
Once connected, you are assigned an IP address from the ORIGINAL Linksys router, and you can ping and communicate with all other devices on your network, even if they are connected to the original network instead of the repeater. So everything continues to work and operate like one network, including shared folders on other computers, printers, etc. I am 100% satisfied with this repeater.
Linksys repeater comparison:
The problem I had with the Linksys WAP54G in repeater mode is that it simply does not work with WPA encryption. It only works with WEP encryption, or no encryption at all. Note that the Linksys website and documents claim that the repeater is compatible with WPA. I can assure you that as of September 2006, up to version 3.04 firmware, the WAP54G access point/repeater does NOT work with WPA encryption. After spending 30 days emailing Linksys tech support back and forth, you will finally be escalated to an engineer that will admit that it doesn't yet work correctly with WPA, but they hope to have it fixed soon! They even sent me some beta firmware, but it did not work with WPA either. Don't waste your time with Linksys, get this HWREG1 Hawking instead. It is easier to configure than Linksys, and works with WPA. Highly recommended.

(More customer reviews)This cable works great IF you happen to be an administrator on both computers. We have purchased this cable to
have (as we hoped) a quick link between two computers (users, not admins).
It only works when the software is run as admin.
Now, this is a sort of obvious limitation if you know how security models work, but most of the folks don't.
And there is not a word about this limitation from Tripp-Lite! We expected this, but got suckered to try it anyway since Tripp-Lite didn't say anything about needing to have administrative rights, nor about a need to execute a file.
Secondly: There are two files on the memory stick called "EasySuite.exe" and "EasySuite .exe" (the space), and not a word
from tripp-Lite on which one to run.
Trirdly: Manual says everything will work automatically, and doesn't mention what to do if there is no autorun enabled. This might stumble a casual user. They could have simply say that if nothing happens, go to the new drive in MyComputer and double-click the "EasySuite .exe" (the one with a space before .exe).I am giving it 3 stars, because, aside from mentioned issues, it works great, simple, and fast, and doesn't need any drivers.
