(More customer reviews)The KPC650 EVDO card is great for websurfing whenever you want. I've taken it to West Memphis, Arkansas and throughout areas in the Baltimore/DC area. Sometimes I can get downloads of about 110kps while my DSL service at home rated at 180kps, if that's the right term. So you'll understand the speed, my downloads on a standard 56k modem were around 4*point*4kps. The puppy works in a pinch.
While there also have been times that I have gone to a known cable modem hotspot to transmit photos, the wireless service is down, I can yank the card out and still roll. Great for those who need net access immediately. Design knocks off one tick because the little antenna doesn't seem to add any boost, and also is an awkward piece of plastic, just begging to be broken off.
I also head that people are buying external antennas of 3 to 12db's of boost. Yup, sometimes it needs a kick in the pants, because it can make the network stall, you know.Doesn't need batteries, so why knock off any points?
It works. The added software, from Verizon, which works with my Powerbook G4 is a cinch, and they work flawlessly. Yes, these are Macintosh compatible, for OSX and apparently not for OS9. We purchased a bunch of them for the shooters on our staff.
