(More customer reviews)I'va had two of these modems with a 3Mbits DSL line, they both had the same problem : They work fine for about 3 weeks, and then blam, they just limit my bandwidth to ~128k, I have to unplug it, wait a little and then replug it ... At the begining I had to do that every 2/3 days, but now it's about every hour !
If you have to buy a modem, buy alcatel modems !

Actiontec GT701WG 54 Mbps Wireless DSL Gateway Review

(More customer reviews)I have had this modem for about 5 years and it is very durable. I have put 100's of terabytes through this modem and it is still going strong. The wireless is great also, because you dont need a seperate router. It even has WPA-PSK encryption, and a firewall. Would purchase from actiontec again.

Qwest Actiontec M1000 DSL Modem Review

(More customer reviews)Having been an early adopter of DSL a decade ago, I was not too dismayed when the Cisco 675 modem that came with my Qwest (at the time, USWest) service sputtered and eventually failed. I bought this modem--the Actiontec m1000, branded for Qwest and sold as their "Broadband Starter Kit"--as a likely-sounding replacement. The swap was not without incident, which required a visit from a helpful Qwest technician (after a couple of hours on the phone with tech support), but that wasn't the modem's fault: Turns out Qwest had made upgrades since I had originally subscribed, and the new modem was never going to work until they upgraded my account accordingly. They did so, and since then the modem has worked flawlessly. I'd recommend it, though my sole DSL experience is with USWest/Qwest, so I have no way of knowing how it would handle other providers.

Actiontec GT701D Ethernet DSL Modem with Routing Capabilities Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this unit to replace a Motorola 2210 that after 13 months died of heat exhaustion. The 2210 ran HOT HOT HOT. I was told by an ATT Tech that the unit might last a year, and of course 13 months out, one month after the warranty expired the 2210 died. My replacement setup tied this Actiontec unit to a D-Link DIR 655 Extreme N Wireless Router. When I attempted an automatic setup, it turned out that both the Actiontec and the D-Link Wireless Router shared an IDENTICAL IP Network Address at 168.192.0.1. This is not a good thing. However after a quick call to Actiontec Customer Support on a Friday Night (I really do have a life:) along with a brief description of the conflict issue, I was able (using advance settings) to modify the Network IP Address on the Actiontec unit, resolve the conflict and get the unit up and running. This unit is virtually identical to the Motorola 2210 in terms of connections and for anyone replacing a burned out 2210 Motorola (piece of junk) this is the unit for you. The unit is about the same size and runs noticeably cooler than the 2210. From other reviews of this and a related Actiontec unit it appears and so far I can confirm that this Actiontec unit is very effective in holding and processing the DSL signal. The slightly more expensive Actiontec USB & Ethernet DSL Modem has an on off switch a USB port and can handle two computers on a wired network basis without an additional network adapter, but is also an older unit that must be upgraded to ADSL 2/2+, whereas this GT701D unit has ADSL 2/2+ protocol built in. This is a great unit for the money if you require a simple stand alone DSL modem.
