Particularly for the enthusiast that is not making cable lengths every day, the single piece connector is a bit hit or miss with the test being done only after you have committed the single piece connector to the cable. The two piece connector takes the guesswork out of the cable assembly by making it very clear where the cable ends are landed and giving rise to less mistakes on this activity. Great product works fine with cat6 and cat5e cable.
