(More customer reviews)I've used several different cell phone antennas and booster amps over the years, because I often travel to remote areas with my motorhome. The Wilson Universal Adapter cable works as well as a direct plug-in connection to the phone, and has several advantages.
First, as its name implies, it works with ANY cellular device, including phones and aircards (I use it with both). It doesn't matter whether your phone has an antenna jack, and you don't have to seek out a special cable for your make and model.
In fact, I've used the Universal Adapter with my cell phone and USB-720 cellular modem *simultaneously* by simply placing them both next to its output end. When you're on the phone with tech support but need to maintain your internet connection, that can be very handy, and you couldn't do it with a hardwired cable.
Second, it spares your phone from the constant plugging and unplugging of a hardwired antenna connector. I know people whose phones' antenna jacks failed after a year or so of that kind of wear and tear. And as I said, in my side-by-side tests there was no discernible difference in signal level between this and a hardwired connection to the phone, so you don't lose anything by using it.
In short, it works flawlessly and is superior to any other connection method I've tried. Perhaps the other reviewer didn't have it correctly placed, or didn't have a good signal from the external antenna to begin with. Since s/he didn't give any details or conduct any side-by-side trials, it's impossible to know. All I can say is that I'm posting this review from a state park, using the Universal Adapter cable to couple my Wilson antenna and booster amp to my Verizon USB-720 cell modem. Without it, I have no service; with it I have a solid two to three bars. It works!
