(More customer reviews)Firstly this wireless serial adapter is much slicker than IOGEAR's. And for the price it should be. This unit has no dip switches and is slightly more compact.
As with IOGEAR's wireless serial adapter, this device should be DCE and not DTE. Take a look around at serial devices. They are DTE. So why make a product that will require the use of a clumsy and bulky null-modem cable 95% of the time? In my case 100% of the time.
WARNING!!! This device does not support low speed serial such as 9600 baud. This is a must for my purposes as I was hoping to use this to configure networking elements such as routers, switches, firewalls, et el. 99% of which have a default console setting of 9600 baud.
Also I would have liked to see a fully self contained unit. Meaning no need for an AC adapter. Yes, this unit MUST be plugged into an AC outlet to function! The necessity of an AC adapter completely negates any claim of "cleans up cable clutter". Also I foresee instances where AC power will be hard to obtain (e.g. only DC power available).
I put some thought into this last night and it would have been ideal for this adapter to have a small rechargeable lithium ion battery built in for short term use. For long term use this device would have two options 1. USB and 2. AC. USB power cable and AC power adapter would connect to the same power input on the device and would also facilitate battery recharging.
As it stands this device is neither convenient or useful. It is far more cumbersome to use than simply plugging in a console cable.

Refurbished Motorola L7c Bluetooth Camera Phone Verizon Review

(More customer reviews)The Motoroloa L7c is the Verizon version of the Motorola SLVR L7 cell phone, which was a upgraded version of the L6. I have owned both the L7c and the L7. Both are the very popular "candy bar" shape, thin and light with a large color screen and lit-up motorola silvered keypad. The L7c is slightly thicker, but otherwise the same size as the L7c. I like both of the phones very much. However, the L7c is a Verizon CDMA phone, and is running the Verizon version software, providing the same menu choices as the other Verizon phones, aggressively advertising their premium "V-Cast" suite of music, video, ringtones and internet downloads, which have an extra cost. All of the Verizon phones have the same software suite, "Get it Now" for video, music and ringtones management, Messaging, Contacts, Recent calls, and Settings and Tools. All of these suites are severely limited, compared to the L7. You are limited to the ringtones you have to purchase from Verizon. I do not like being locked into only the ringtones and games and items that Verizon controls.
Music syncing to your computer on the L7c only works with a PC and using their extra software purchased on a CD ROM.... Will not synch on a Mac. There is an additional Micro SD memory card that you can purchase, the L7c will accept up to a 2 gb card or smaller (not sure if a larger one will work), but it fits inside the case under a battery in a very fragile cage. For a Mac user, you have to pop the back, remove the battery, remove the micro SD card and plug it directly into a SD card reader and then the card will mount and you can copy MP3s and MP4s to the audio file, videos (cell phone gp formatted), and jpeg photos to your photo file. Reinstall the micro SD card and put everything togehter and then you have access to music and video and photos. Bluetooth transfer is flawed to computers and phone books and events will not synch to your phone calendar on the L7c (using the Mac isynch anyway).
The above is in contradistinction to the SLVR L7, which has a much better and detailed calendar, phone contact list (with photos, addresses, emails, and other important information (like a real contact manager). Synchs phone book and calendars to the Mac flawlessly, and the extra memory micro SD card plugs into the side from externally (will handle up to a 1gb card, the 2gb card is not recognized.) Plut the phone into your computer and the micro SD card mounts for you to copy photos, music and movies to.
The music player on the L7c is flawed... you can only create playlists with a lot of manual work, and only plays mono from the speaker or a wired mono microphone-headset. On the other hand, the SLVR L7 plays stereo from a special plugged headset or your headset with an adapter. The LSVR L7 comes with iTunes in some versions. The built-in motorola MP3 player software does not recognized MP4s, unlike iTunes, but there are a lot of people who have developed software tools to load hacked versions of iTunes in which works fairly well.
The SLVR L7 stereo volume is low and I have had to buy an amplifier for it from Radio Shack.
The Motorola SLVR L7 is a quad-band GSM phone, whick makes it usable in Europe, South America, and other countries, it is easy to drop in a SIM chip into the inside under the battery , to get foreign cell service. I have used it in Mexico and Europe with Mexican and European SIM chips and it is great. The Verizon L7c is locked to the CDMA networks and Mexican coverage is patchy, and troublesome, and there is no European service.
Battery life is an issue with both of these cell phones, talking and using the screens and playing mp3s will deplete the usual batteries within 12-36 hours. There are three batteries that can be used, the BC50 with is about 600 milliamp hours, the BC60 whichh is about 800 mah, and the BC 70, which is about 1000 mahs. There are extended battery backs sold but they are not necessary for any of the above batteries. I have found that a Motorola battery BK 10 (1500 mah- 4-5 days!) will fit in the battery compartment of both of these phones, but the extended battery back is not quite big enough and some surgery is necessary to get the extended battery cover to go back on the phone with the BK10 exposed. But in a case, no one will see.
The video recorder and photo camera of the L7 is superior to the L7c, which seems more blurry and not as many pixesl. Both are not much to write home about, though. Both have programmable buttons that can activate the camera or video in a shortcut. Both have zoom capability and the L7c has some editing capabilities in the photo utilities and special effects.
Both do video mail and photo mail, in addition to text mail. I have not tested the internet functioning of any of these phones.
In summary, the Motorola L7c is the Verizon attempt to have a Motorola SLVR L7 type phone, custom made for the Verison networks. It is similar but lacks a lot a flexibility and capability of the original L7. I love the design of both, but feel for Mac users, the L7 is a better and more friendly phone and does everything better. However I am currently locked to the Verizon phone system, and I think the L7c is a good conpromise.

The phone has many excellent features, such as:
o Multi band covering the whole world
o Full communication suite (BT, wireless, push email, Internet...) that is easy to setup
o Nice touch screen and nice panels, which can be developed by a normal user
o Office tools and applications
o and many more
Its features are better than many cell phones such as the HTC diamond, which is comparable to it, and is always said that this is an imitation of it. Moreover, it runs great and flawlessly.
The couple of things that I would like to be better are the speaker phone function, it just needs to be a little bit louder, and the multimedia player that comes with it, but again you can always buy third party applications that can cover all types of audio and video.
I'm extremely happy with the phone and recommend it to anybody and everybody.

Toshiba's Satellite M series notebooks are designed for multimedia and the M115-S3094 is a low cost system with media specific features. The most notable of these is the ability for the system to be used for DVD or CD playback without requiring the OS to be running. About the only really multimedia feature missing is a TV tuner.
Powering the M115-S3094 is the Intel Core Duo T2050 processor. While this is one of the lowest dual core models currently available, it still is a step up from the older single core Pentium M processors. It comes with 512MB of PC2-4200 DDR2 memory which is standard for a budget oriented system but won't run as smoothly as one with a full gigabyte.
Storage is also fairly average for a budget notebook system. The 80GB hard drive provides plenty of space for most users needs although don't expect to put too many digital video files or else you might fill it up quickly. A dual layer DVD burner is also available for playback or recording or music, movie or data CDs and DVDs.
While most companies are moving to the larger 15.4" wide screen LCDs, Toshiba uses a smaller 14.1" screen. This provides plenty of space for viewing without making the system to large. It also uses a TruBrite screen for better video playback.
Probably the best thing about the Satellite M115-S3094 though is the price. The price is quite reasonable for the amount of features provided

Handspring Visor Edge (Metallic Silver) Review

(More customer reviews)I bought my Edge through the Handspring Website because they weren't available any where else at the time. I've been happy with it, even thought the first one crashed, and they had to send me a new one. They sent the replacement next day air and I haven't had a single problem since. I bought the Edge instead of the Handspring Platinum because the Edge was quite a bit thinner and had an internal rechargeable battery so I didn't have to spend a fortune on AAA batteries. The Palm V is the closest relative to the Edge in the Palm family, but I thought that Handspring had a better product with their Springboard module. I've already purchased the one step back up module which works great when you're away from your computer. In addition, I purchased the InnoPak/2V vibrator along with a Handspring belt type carrying case so that I can wear my Edge and have it vibrate for appointments. I figure that if it's on my belt I'll get that much more utility out of it. The only thing that I don't like about the Edge is that it's a new enough model that I'm not able to get all the accessories for it yet like the Targus foldable keyboard and the travel charger/synch cable.

(More customer reviews)Having used several smart phones, and used this phone for about 4 months, I believe I can give a fairly educated review. And hopefully save you some money in the process. I was going to do a pros and cons list, but I can't think of many pros other than the fact that it charges off a USB charger.
The supplied software is useless (like most of these things). You can drag and drop from your computer to the phone, but you need to find the drop folders yourself. This takes time (and effort), as the folder set up is overly complex.
Once you have some music on your phone, you'll discover it doesn't have a 3.5mm headphone jack, so you'll need an HTC headset, which is an extra (was included on the previous model) and too bulky to carry around. You also can't plug it into speakers or your car stereo for the same reason, thus you can't play your music. Other HTC models have headphone jacks, why not this one?
I haven't found a video format the phone will play. If it made the video, it'll play it. Otherwise it won't.
It runs windows mobile. So it does all the things devices running windows do - it freezes, it crashes, and it requires re-booting - FAR too often.
The HTC TouchFLO will cause you most of the frustration found with this phone. It is unable to distinguish between long or short touches, strokes and taps.... Or in fact anything that you'd expect from a touch device. If, for example you scroll through your contacts, the phone will continue to scroll until you stab the screen several times to stop it. By then it's gone past the contact you wanted, and you have to do it again, and again, and again. Eventually you'll give up and use the navigation key - which defeats the point of having a touch screen phone.
The screen is too small for the size of the phone. Navigating the internet is very difficult, so you'll need to enlarge the screen to read anything. Then you're at the mercy of TouchFLO again, as you attempt to move the page to the section you want to read. TouchFLO will activate links you didn't want (as it can't distinguish between taps, and scrolls), and it will zoom and un-zoom constantly (as it can't distinguish taps, double taps, and scrolls). Simply looking at a page is hard enough, doing anything like booking flights or a rental car is impossible.
The default web browser (Opera) doesn't open all web pages correctly, and links often remain inactive (see booking flights above). It also has Explorer, but with the small screen, it's too hard to use, and TouchFLO works differently in explorer. Opera is the lesser of the two evils.
There are no settings to change the screen from landscape to portrait. Landscape would make everything easier (slightly). Once mine opened a web page in landscape (which was great), the next time it was back to portrait. There is no setting to change it manually. I think my experience was just a Microsoft glitch.
It has limited internal memory, with an expansion slot for another micro SD card. However, the default setting is to save to the phone, which fills the memory so quickly it's no longer able to launch some programmes. Once data is saved to the phone there is no way to move it to the SD card, the only option is to delete (or connect to a computer and start the slow painful process of doing it your self). To avoid this you have to manually tell it to save to the card.
If you store data on the card, you have to manually search the card to find it. Essentially you have two storage devices, a phone, and a card. This is a very annoying problem.
Due to the phone's limited internal memory, it can only run one programme at a time and due to the slow processor speed, some programmes takes an eternity to load (Opera, for example can take up to 10 seconds and sometimes more)
The camera is about typical quality for a phone like this. The best thing I can say, is it takes photos. Not good photos, just photos. The metering and white balance are very poor, but so are most phone cameras.
To answer a call, the phone uses a `button' on the screen that you tap (rather than slide like an iphone), meaning you'll answer calls while fishing it out of your pocket. Even when it's your mother inlaw. Or accidently answer calls, even when you haven't heard the phone ring.
When it detects wireless networks, it beeps, and brings up a box asking if you want to join it. If you're in an area with lots of networks, or in a moving vehicle, the shear number of these boxes makes doing anything on the phone impossible, as you have to constantly dismiss them.
Texting is difficult due to the screen size. With the keyboard open you loose most of the screen, and still need to use the stylus to type as the `keys' are still tiny.
There is no Alarm tone. The alarms will only make one solitary beep. Adding an alarm sound, or song to the folder containing the `beep' was fruitless. Mine is totally unreliable and the alarm seems to go off around 80% of the time - you simply can't rely on it.
The recessed screen is an improvement over the previous model, as it makes it more difficult to scratch, however it doesn't come with a pouch (which the previous model did) so it'll get scratched anyway. It does however, come with a screen protector.
As a business tool, this phone misses the mark:
You can't read spread sheets on the screen, so you have to enlarge it. Then if you try to scroll, our friend TouchFLO is unable to distinguish between touching and scrolling, thus it will only highlight cells, it WONT scroll. The only way to do it is to use the stylus to move the tabs at the sides of the page (as any human finger is about 20 times too big to touch the little tabs). You can never see enough of the sheet at once to actually do anything
Word documents are usable, but due to the size of the screen, once you open the keyboard you can't read much. And again due to the limitations of TouchFLO you can move the curser, but you can't scroll through the document with out using the stylus on the tabs.
Email works well, but attachments are downloaded to the phone memory, so it quickly fills up, which then affects other programmes. Deleting emails is the only solution, and as this phone does a full sync with your email server, they're deleted off the server too.
Summary: it's a cheap, very poor imitation of an iphone. So poor that it fails at even the most simple tasks. If you've never used a smart phone before, you may be wowed by the internet and email on the phone and may not notice all of these failings. If you have used one before, this phone will drive you insane. The user interface is VERY poor. HTC has a long way to go to make this phone usable.
Verdict: Save your money. The only reason it gets two stars is that it does usually make and receive phone calls.

I ordered the Blue Ant X5i from Shopcell - an Amazon market place vendor. While the product was delivered promptly enough, alas - it wouldn't even switch on.
My first step was to call "BLUEANT" customer support (North America) . After a moderate wait I was able to get a live support rep. We went over diagnostics, but within the first minute of the call, his question was "How much did you pay for this product?"..When I answered $30 on Amazon.com - his response was " Must have been refurbished! - send it back to the seller!!"....When I mentioned the description says - brand new and it arrived in new packaging his answer didn't change.
At this point - it became pretty obvious that he'd lost all interest in the call and wanted to just get me off the phone...
Then I asked about their product warranty - I even have a product warranty card - he said, "call the seller first or return it to them!"....
What kind or condescending product support/warranty is this - product support has no business asking about product price...
I highly doubt their product warranty means anything to them or - or even if they will stand behind it.
Their product support and brand standards are probably just like their product - substandard and indifferent
Unfortunately I can't give them less than 1 star

"Setup" and installation of the BlueSoleil software was painless and the adapter seems to be working great with the exception of lag that sometimes occurs with my mouse movements. The mouse did not do this with the Microsoft adapter so I believe it is either the adapter or BlueSoleil software that is causing this. Still a great device and I held one star due to the occasional lag.

The good:

-decently fast (especially if you upgrade the ram to 2GB)
The bad:
-Buttons below touchpad are stiff and difficult to click
-The built in Gobi 2000 wireless modem can be difficult to connect with a wireless internet carrier. Supposedly it is compatible with Sprint, Verizon, and ATT, however in my experience the laptop will only work with one of these providers, depending on how the ESN number was registered with.

It doesn't support the native Windows XP Blue Tooth drivers provided by Microsoft and the drivers provided by Belkin are not 100% compatible with some of the newer Bluetooth devices available. The only way to get it to work at all is to run the full install from the Belkin CD and it disables the Windows Bluetooth services and replaces them with Belkin services rather than just providing a driver that works with the native windows Bluetooth services. This is most likely because this device has been around since before Microsoft released support for Bluetooth technology. It would be nice if Belkin released an updated driver but they haven't..

(More customer reviews)I learned quickly that while the iPAQ was a great PDA, I used the onboard storage up quick. An e-book or two, a map or 3, maybe a couple of mp3, all of your "pocket outlook" files, avant go content and, heaven forbid, a short video file and you don't have any memory left at all... you can't even rub two bits together!
If you don't want to spend the coin for the PC Card expansion pack and battery time isn't a big issue to you, then this is a great solution. You can throw in any of several compact flash modules or, if you are a real space junkie you can use an IBM microdrive in it. At about a fourth of the cost of a PC Card pack you can add in that extra 128 mb. A warning tho. Given the opportunity to add in more storage, you will want to. I think everyone who can will want a Microdrive in this thing at one point or another. Sure, it drains the battery a bit more but in my opinion that is more from you using the content you carry more often and not a serious drain from the expansion pack.

I bought this computer almost 10 years ago and it still works! I had to get a memory upgrade along with an external Zip Drive (remember those days?) and an external memory drive for my pictures and movies. Yeah, it pretty slow now but that's mostly because as new programs are created they become more and more demanding of the memory and processor; but it still works. Can you say the same of your Windows PC???
DON"T get a Cube now; get a Mac Pro. I just bought a new one and I expect it to last me another 10 years. As for my Cube, I think I might turn it into a novelty fish tank.

This serial adapter has a DB9 male connector in the DTE pinout.
I purchased this adapter to plug into the console ports of various computers and network switches so it should've been a DB9 female connector in the DCE pinout. Clearly, they realized this so they provide a female to female null modem adapter (most null modem adapters are male to female).
Unfortunately they left pin 9 unconnected as would be the case in most null modem cables and most null modems, although this is normally a reasonable precaution, this device derives it's power from pin 9 which being unconnected, does not work very well. To account for this oversight, they've provided an external power adapter with an european to US plug adapter, not a very portable solution, nor is it very wireless solution.
The product is still usable if you build your own female to female null modem adapter with pin 9 connected through.

Motorola Barrage V860 Phone (Verizon Wireless) Review

+ Tetherable wireless modem.
+ Ruggedized
+ Uses the same USB interface as my wife's and son's phones
I first ordered a different ruggedized VZW phone, because it was advertised with more features and was well reviewed. The problem was, the other brand of phone did not come with a USB cable, nor was one available. While I was searching around for the cable online, I tried out the extra features, such as the thermometer- it was off by 4 to 6 degrees Farenheit, making it pretty useless. The LED flashlight was nice, but not nicer than being able to surf the WEB surfside.
So, I exchanged it for this much less glitzy Motorola Barrage. I have already used it to get my email and upload documents far from any available Wi-Fi hot spots (cool!) and it has come in handy when I am in the shower and I get an important phone call (like from my wife). It also uses the same cord as the other cell phones in the family, which is great on trips.
It has some other surprisingly useful features. For example, I can make a call without looking at the phone because it pronounces the names of my contacts as I scroll through the list. Also, it is actually very useful to know who is calling without having to put down whatever I am carrying to look at the cell phone display. The voice recognition, e.g., "Call... John... Mobile," actually work on this phone for me and that is a first.
I already have several great digital cameras, so I always thought having a camera phone was sort of stupid. But the other day I bought something at the lumber store that didn't have a sticker. No problem, I just snapped a picture of the display tag, and the cashier keyed the SKU right in.
I put one of those 4 GB micro SD cards into the phone for $11 so I can transfer files back and forth from the phone to my laptop, or to other computers. That's when one gewfy 'feature' of the phone showed up. When you first plug it in to the USB cable, you get to choose between "Media Sync Mode" and "Modem Mode." Choosing "Media Sync" gives you the option to either download music, or NOT. "Not" mode does nothing... nada... Zippo... except to charge the battery. If you want to transfer files or photos, you have to go into "Tools" and select "USB Mass Storage." But even *that* is gewfy, because there are two menu items that have the phrase 'USB'. To transfer files, you want the one that results from, "MENU, Settings & Tools, 2. Tools, 8. USB Mass Storage," and *not* "MENU, Settings & Tools, 9. USB Mode." Pretty stinkin' ridiculous, eh?
The bluetooth pairing thingie works, but I can't get used to making or answering calls on a headset. Plus, people who walk around in public talking to themselves seem icky to me. I might get a car adapter someday, and I am confident this phone will work with it.
Other than that one weird menu glitch, I really, really like this phone.

For a monthly fee (billed on your Verizon Wireless bill), you can load and reload your subscription songs from your PC to your V CAST Music with Rhapsody phone as often as you want, and take your music on the go.
