Dell D620 Laptop Duo Core with Windows XP Review

(More customer reviews)The Dell Latitude line of notebooks are well built business machines. The Latitudes and XPS lines are a tier higher than the entry-level Inspiron Series.
The case is constructed of metal with plastic trim along the LCD monitor. There are 4 USB ports which allow for a variety of peripherals to be attached such as portable hard drives. There is a headphone and microphone jack and an outlet for a monitor. The keyboard is comfortable to the touch. In addition to the mousepad, there is a pointing stick with 2 buttons below the space key, allowing for either to control the cursor. The 'spill proof' keyboard is one of the biggest assets (I have only spilled a drink on it once, where I just wiped off the keyboard without a problem in function).
The WIFI capabilities is reliable and easy to set up. The hard drive is quiet, as is the optical drive. The strike zone hard drive is resistant to light drops.
Performance of the notebook is excellent with the Dual Core processors. This notebook easily handles virus scanning, working on a MS Office document, internet browser and listening to music without any problem. The integrated graphics allows for basic games like Tiger Woods Golf, Mafia, NHL Hockey, the Godfather, for example.
Battery life is very good for the 6 cell (about 4 hours).
One of the greatest attractions that I have for this line of notebooks is the lack of 'bloatware' - unnecessary programs that are installed into your computer (trial programs, multiple internet service providers, advertisements, etc).
Overall, with a spill resistant keyboard and drop zone hard drive, this notebook will take the daily knocks of the regular commuter. This is no Panasonic Toughbook but it will survive your daily use.
VERDICT
Highly recommend this notebook.

Cisco RVL200 4-Port SSL/IPsec VPN Router Review

(More customer reviews)I want to be able to view and control my IP cameras installed around my home when I am away. The IP camera I have comes with a web interface for realtime viewing from a PC in the local network. This SSL VPN router allows me to connect back to the web interface of my IP camera when I am at work. The out of the box experience is good - I have no trouble in setting it up and connect to the internet with my cable modem. After I changed my default password, created a few user accounts for my family members, and enabled the Remote Management, I put the device into test. First, I have to find the ip address that my cable company assigned to me and the ip address of my camera given by the router - all available from the router administration web interface at http://192.168.1.1. When I was at work the next day, I was able to get to the internet address of my SSL router and connect to my home network within a minute. Just want to share my success story with the community that might have the same need. The QoS feature may come to rescue when I am working from home, using my company's VPN, and my kids are playing bandwidth extensive internet games. I have to see how well it would work.

CMC2002H 2-Way Splitter Review

(More customer reviews)I guess you'd have to rate a product like this according to whether or not it just works or just doesn't work at all. How do you give 5 stars to a 2-way splitter, unless the thing somehow "improves" a signal (most of them don't, nor are they designed to). I have a couple of pricey faux-gold-plated name brand splitters that actually didn't transmit a signal as cleanly as this Antronix can. I'd prefer to work with an unaltered signal; it appears that this splitter, except for the usual -3.5 db loss, sends exactly the same signal it receives. I can't say as much for the high-priced spread I compare it to, whose image looked a bit darker and warmish, with somewhat dense blacks. I note that my cable provider uses this same splitter along with a similar Viewsonics model. Cable companies use products that fulfill several critical requirements. The splitter should not materially alter the incoming or returning signal (the usual 1/2 loss being unavoidable). It shouldn't have side effects that could damage the customer's equipment or create problems on the company's network (which some pricey splitters are known to do). In this case, the splitter should be optimally designed for HD cable use, not for satellite or antenna. According to the cable company, this Antronix fills the bill in all respects. According to my eyes, it works just as well or better than the $30 gold-plated ripoff I replaced with this product -- in fact, my picture looks slightly but visibly less noisy than before.

Lenovo ThinkPad Advanced Dock - docking station ( 250310U ) Review

(More customer reviews)I have just bought an advanced thinkpad dock with integrated power supply. It is "Made in Japan" 39T4569 ( 42W4629 ) the problem is the inner fan is ALL THE TIME ON with a loud noise you can compare to vacuum cleaner or old PC "big tower" produced 10-15 years ago. I have bought this for T61 laptop which is a very silent one. Any regular dosktop PC (not laptop) would make less noise nowadays than this dock alone.
